This course is suitable for all practitioners who are the Designated Safeguarding Lead within an Early Years settings

This course is designed for the Designated safeguarding lead for Early Years settings. This course will give you the tools to know what to do in the event of a disclosure and how to be confident in referrals, contribute to assessments and core groups. Be able to understand the significance of good record keeping, including storage of records, safer recruitment, induction and supervision of others as well the importance of E-Safety and Social media and the impact this has on children's lives

THIS INCLUDES CHILDMINDERS

The course outcomes are: 

•          Have developed a more of an understanding of  statutory legislation   and guidance concerning safeguarding                   children from harm, including child protection procedures in line with the protocol of the local authority

•          Be able to work effectively with multi agencies where there are concerns of a child is at risk of significant harm.

•          Be confident in making referrals, contributing to assessments, child protection conferences and core groups.

•          Be able to ensure on how to make informed professional judgement

•          Be able to reflect on own setting in providing a safe environment for children and their own responsibility in                     maintaining an environment where children are protected from harm at all times.

•          Understand the significance of good record keeping, including storage and access to records, this also includes                the GDPR.

•          Understand the role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead within settings, including safer recruitment, induction             and supervision

•          Be able to secure knowledge of performing staff supervisions and the importance of safeguarding within this                    role. This includes the emotional impact this has on staff when dealing with a disclosure

•          Be secure in the evidence of E-safety and Social media and the impact this has on children's lives.
